mus·ing
noun
-
a period of reflection or thought.
My early journal entries were uninteresting–bland restatements of daily events, recorded in childish cursive. "We went to grandma and grandpa's house for dinner. We ate roast beef." But as I grew older, my entries became less record-like and more reflective. Writing became a comfortable, contemplative, and expressive practice.
Many experiences, people, and ideas contributed to my interest in writing. High school and university classes, inspiring professors, work-related responsibilities, friends and family. Social and political movements, spiritual experiences, nature, memories, music, relationships. Life itself spoke to me in ways that intrigued, taught, and stretched me–and I want to share those moments.
Thus, this website is a collection of everything that’s inspired and changed me. It's a look into my life: my thoughts, daydreams, opinions, passions, memories, epiphanies.
While writing is one of my favorite forms of expression, it also helps me learn and progress. This is because my writing process is fairly lengthy. I begin by musing over strong feelings, spiritual promptings, personal challenges, or observations of human nature. Pondering on questions about myself or life prompts me to delve into scholarly research, past experiences; psychology and spirituality to find explanations and answers. As I do this, writing becomes a mechanism for self-reflection, conflict resolution, goal-setting, and paradigm-shifting. Writing enables me to engage with my true identity, challenge emotional or spiritual distress, and find solace.
Carson McCullers, prolific American novelist once said: "The writer is by nature a dreamer--a conscious dreamer." Join me in my pursuit of personal improvement, vulnerability, and truth as I meaningfully muse and consciously dream on a variety of topics!
This website will contain a variety of writing, from lengthy book reviews to brief quotes with commentaries. Some writing will be from several years ago, and all of it is bound to contain mistakes. Despite errors, I hope that its content encourages self-reflection and improvement!
